resistance cafe

The Resistance Café is a weekly gathering of the ReSisters and Misters, activists supporting each other and working to make significant political change.  Regardless of experience—newbies to seasoned veterans—we are there for one another.

HOW THE RESISTANCE CAFÉ CAN HELP YOU STAY FOCUSED ON TAKING ACTION!

It is so tempting to put off actions until tomorrow. That is exactly why we have started the Resistance Café! It is a scheduled, set time each week that we hope will be a standing meeting on your calendar. It is a way to make sure you follow through on your commitment to activism.

I HAVE SOMETHING THAT I NEED TO DO AND CAN NOT COMMIT TO THE FULL MEETING. DO I NEED TO STAY THE WHOLE TIME?

No, you don’t have to stay. We want the Resistance Café to be fun and flexible. Our meetings are often for one hour however, when we are committed to an action or a speaker requiring more time, we will adjust to two hours. Sometimes we ask people who come to the meeting to commit to an “action” during the meeting (texting, calling, writing postcards, etc.). These activities are often done in Breakout Rooms when we meet virtually, or in groups when, in the future, we can meet in person.

HOW DOES THE MEETING WORK ?

Regardless of experience—newbies to seasoned veterans—we meet virtually every Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. online via Zoom.

  • Go to the Weekly Menu on our website. You’ll find it on the right of each page. You’ll find the Zoom link there.
  • At the meeting, we review the Weekly Menu. It has three sections:
    • STARTERS: You will find actions you can do between meetings, items to put on your calendar, etc.
    • MAINS: These may be actions that we want to do during the meeting. If the action requires smaller groups, we may move to Breakout Rooms. Sometimes a Main is a guest speaker to inform us re issues or their candidacy.
    • DESSERTS: Articles, information, humor
  • Depending on the action we are taking, you will find ReSisters are available to help train new activists
